Boom Barriers are utilized to control the movement of vehicles going in and out of places like residential buildings, business parks, shopping malls etc. An increasing number of buildings and footfalls in these types of structures require Boom Barriers. They are also known as Boom Gates. It is a pole, or a bar pivoted to allow the boom to halt the vehicles through a controlled point.
The tip of a Boom Gate typically rises in a vertical arc to a near vertical position. The boom barriers are often counterweighted so that the pole can easily be tipped. They are usually paired-end to end or offset approximately so that they can block traffic in both directions. To increase approach visibility, some boom barriers have a second arm.
It hangs about 300-400 mm below the upper arm when lowered, so it hangs on links, and lies flat with the main boom as the barrier is raised. In certain boom barriers, the outermost half remains horizontal due to a picture roughly halfway. The Barrier resembles an upside down “L” when raised whereas the outermost half remains horizontal.
Certain automatic boom barriers use the electromechanical system, but the technologies differ with the manufacturer.
